The Fade Shot
The Draw Shot
1. The Fade
How to Play the FADE Shot
A fade shot in golf is a controlled shot that curves slightly from left to right (for right-handed golfers).
A useful shot to have in your arsenal, especially when you need to avoid obstacles or position the ball accurately on the fairway.
Steps to Hit a Fade Shot:
1 Grip and Stance:
Use a slightly weaker grip by rotating your hands slightly to the left on the club.
Align your feet, hips, and shoulders slightly to the left of your target.
2 Clubface Alignment:
Aim the clubface directly at your target. This will help the ball start on the correct line before it curves.
3 Swing Path:
Swing along the line of your body, which is aimed left of the target. This outside-to-in swing path will create the left-to-right spin needed for a fade.
4 Follow Through:
Maintain a smooth follow-through, ensuring clubface remains slightly open at impact to promote the fade.
Tips:
~ Practice with different clubs to understand how the fade shot behaves with each
~ Focus on a consistent swing tempo to maintain control over the shot
